NACAC Receives $10,000 Grant From XAP Corporation

Alexandria, VA – September 1, 2000 – XAP Corporation has donated $10,000 toward the National Association for College Admission Counseling's (NACAC) Presidents' Council Grant Program. The grant will allow 10 secondary school counselors from urban and rural settings to participate in NACAC's 56th National Conference, October 5-8, 2000 in Washington, DC.

The Presidents' Council Grant Program provides funding to NACAC's state and regional affiliates to support continuing education and professional development for secondary school and college admission counselors. The grants fund membership dues for NACAC and its affiliates; registration fees, travel, lodging, and related expenses to participate in professional development programming and annual conferences sponsored by NACAC and its affiliates; and innovative projects and programs linked to professional development activities. The grants are targeted toward middle and secondary school counselors from rural and urban public schools; admission professionals from two-year institutions; new admission professionals; representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Native American Institutions; and other education and counseling professionals.

"The Presidents' Council Grant Program was created to enhance opportunities for a diverse group of admission professionals," said Carl Behrend, coordinator of the NACAC State and Regional Presidents' Council. "We are especially grateful to XAP Corporation for supporting our efforts to reach out to counselors from rural and urban public schools and offer them current information and development leadership to better serve their students."
