Xap Corporation Announces First Spanish Language Mentor System

Spanish Mentor Systems are dedicated to increasing Hispanic students' accessibility to higher education and preparedness.

Los Angeles, CA – October 10, 2002 – Xap, the leader in Internet-based student services, announced the release of the first of several planned Mentor Systems with Spanish language content. The first Mentor System to offer content in Spanish is NCMentor which is available at www.cfnc.org (College Foundation of North Carolina), a service offered by the State of North Carolina. The Spanish content, accessible from the homepage, is a summary of the content and tools available on the web site including information on choosing a career, meeting entrance requirements, applying to college and finding sources of financial aid. Plans for including additional information and functionality are in place.

"Our goal is to increase accessibility to higher education for all students," said Allen Firstenberg, President and CEO of Xap. "There is a special need for students whose parents don't speak English or for students who are the first in the family to attend college. We have set out to provide information in Spanish for Hispanic families, and assist students in planning to meet university admissions requirements."

Mentor Systems, which are exclusively developed by Xap Corporation, are Internet-based, student-centered web sites that provide students and their parents a simpler, friendlier and free way to plan for college admission, search and select colleges, learn about scholarships and financial aid, plan a career, and apply to college. An important message provided by Mentor systems is that "education is affordable to everyone." Xap currently has contracts for Mentor Systems covering approximately 80% of college enrollment throughout the United States, a number that continues to grow.

"As a state with one of the fastest growing Hispanic populations, this is an exciting opportunity for North Carolina. This is a valuable resource that offers the parents and children complete information about higher education opportunities within North Carolina," said Dr. Robert Kanoy, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of North Carolina.
