Xap Adds Senior Advisor for Academic Strategy
Culver City, CA February 25, 2008
Xap Corporation is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Robert C. Kanoy as its Senior Advisor for Academic Strategy beginning March 1st. He will be responsible for guiding and supporting the strategy driving the college and workforce readiness efforts at Xap and its numerous partners. Dr. Kanoy has been The University of North Carolina (UNC) system office's Senior Associate Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
"Dr. Kanoy has significant expertise that will help ensure we are addressing the access and career planning needs in each state and province in delivering industry-leading and enduring education and career planning resources to an increasing number of students and citizens each year," said J. Michael Thompson, CEO. "He is a well-respected advocate for comprehensive college access solutions. Xap is quite fortunate to benefit from his years of experience and leadership in this field, and I am delighted to welcome him to our community."
Kanoy joined UNC General Administration in 1999 to focus on access and outreach for the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina system, the oldest public university in America and enrolls over 200,000 students. He was a key leader in the creation and growth of CFNC.org, a revolutionary statewide web portal that has served over two million students and has been modeled in 28 other states. It has played a key role in the success in increasing the state's college-going rate by 9% in the past five years.
"I am thrilled for the opportunity to join a team that is dedicated to promoting college access and success nationwide. Xap is a company where the leadership understands that we need to be creative in developing solutions to support college access. And, that means we are committed to learning from and working with state, K-12, and higher education leaders to develop solutions that respond to the needs of the client," said Robert Kanoy. "I am excited to be part of the company's growth."
Kanoy has overseen the University's efforts with the GEAR UP NC programs, need-based student financial aid, and efforts to increase minority presence on each campus. Prior to joining The University of North Carolina system office, he spent most of his career as a faculty member and administrator at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In his role as Associate Dean of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he is credited with initiating the creation and development of a statewide Internet resource for teachers, LEARN NC.
